On 10 April 2024, the PROMOTE project, in cooperation with the European Basic Skills Network (EBSN), held an international webinar to introduce and explore the core methodology developed within the project. The online event brought together more than 60 participants from across Europe, including educators, probation officers, prison staff, and other professionals working in or around correctional environments.
The PROMOTE project aims to support inclusive upskilling strategies for professionals who work with individuals at risk of social exclusion, particularly within justice-related institutions. The webinar highlighted how the project’s methodology – based on the DACUM approach – can help map professional roles, define key tasks and competencies, and identify training needs in a collaborative, structured way.
Participants had the opportunity to experience the methodology first-hand through guided breakout room sessions, where they worked in small groups to define their own professional profiles. The process not only fostered peer learning but also encouraged reflection on real challenges professionals face when supporting vulnerable learners in complex environments.
The group discussions and feedback revealed common needs across countries and sectors, such as the importance of:
  • trauma-informed practices and emotional resilience,
  • better cooperation between education, social, and justice services,
  • and targeted, flexible training solutions tailored to evolving professional realities.
The event was a significant milestone in the project’s dissemination efforts, reinforcing the relevance of the PROMOTE approach for multi-stakeholder collaboration and professional development in correctional settings.
